In order to be competitive, companies need a high standard of product quality. To maintain this standard, verification and validation procedures need to be applied constantly during the Product Development Process (PDP). There- fore a high number of people, departments or companies have to work together and communicate via different media. In this paper a method is described to analyse and illustrate - in a very detailed way – data and information flows in detail processes of the PDP. A BUTTON UP approach is combined with a TOP DOWN approach. The results are interpreted via BPMN 2.0 (Business Process Model and Notation), network theory and coordination theory. The method was evaluated and approved at a motorcycle manufacturer and can be transferred to other industrial sectors. K
