Abstract:
Methodolgies from model-based systems engineering (MBSE) are used to control the complexity of systems along the life cycle. One graphical modeling language of MBSE is the widely used Systems Modeling Language (SysML). As a result of the increasing complexity of the system, it has an influence on modeling behavior. SysML does not provide any evaluation methods that enable measurability of model complexity. Despite the increasing complexity of system behavior, we found an absence of methods and modeling guidelines to tackle this complexity. This paper presents an evaluation method that identifies model complexity by means of key figures. The key figures support the user analyzing complexity drivers and searching for concept alternatives. The implementation of the evaluation method is presented with a focus on test case derivation from a SysML diagram. «
