Summary: Within this project we will investigate the interaction between the wake flow of a 2D space launcher model with the jet flow through a 2D, partially and fully flowing, dual-bell nozzle. The aim is 1. to characterize and understand the interaction between the external and internal aerodynamics in order to determine the mechanical loads on the nozzle and 2. to establish efficient flow control strategies to reduce strong turbulent interaction events. Reaching these aims is of fundamental importance to extend the operational range of the nozzle for real flight applications. Since the dual-bell nozzle operates in two different modes, a broader operating range can be achieved during atmospheric ascent of a space launcher.
